Mission
The mission of Trinity Lutheran Early Childhood Learning Center is to provide a Christian environment and curriculum, taught in a Lutheran context, for the young people of our congregation and community. As members of Trinity Lutheran Church, we believe that we should play an active role in the spiritual, educational, and social development of children. We believe that particularly young children need thoughtful care and guidance. A viable early childhood learning center benefits young children at a time when meaningful instruction will foster the development of Christian faith and values in their lives.
"Jesus said 'Let the little children come to Me and do not keep them away, for the kingdom of heaven is made up of such as these.' " - Matthew 19:14
With Lutheran teachers and a Christian staff, Trinity Lutheran ECLC provides a Christ-centered setting enabling young learners to develop as individuals through God's love prior to their commencement of elementary school. The Early Childhood Learning Center not only benefits young children, but serves as an evangelical outreach to the community. It is the purpose of Trinity Lutheran Early Childhood Learning Center to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with children and their families.
Kindergarten
Kindergarten is offered full days Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. throughout the regular school year. Maximum class size is 20 children. Children must be at least 5 years old by October 1 to be eligible for kindergarten. Childcare is available before and after school at the rate of $3.50 per hour. The center opens at 7:00 a.m. and closes at 6:00 p.m.
Besides daily instruction in religion, reading and math, the extended class time will also allow for blocks of time devoted to science, social studies, art and music. Kindergarten participants also attend an all-school chapel service weekly. Students also have access to an extensive computer system, where they learn academic and computer skills in a fun and lively environment.
During kindergarten, the children are furnished with a morning snack. Children should bring a sack lunch. During afternoon childcare, another snack is provided.
Preschool
Preschool is offered each morning from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 throughout the regular school year. Children may enroll for 2, 3 or 5 days per week. Maximum class size is 20 children with a lead teacher and a classroom aide. Children who are at least 2 1/2 years old and potty-trained are eligible for the Preschool 1 class. Children who are at least 4 years old by October 1 of that school year may enroll in the Preschool 2 class.
A planned curriculum is implemented during the preschool time. As a Lutheran school, Trinity includes daily religious instruction. This includes studying Bible stories, learning Christian songs, praying daily and practicing a Christian lifestyle. An all-school chapel service is held weekly.
Also included in the curriculum are concepts and skills appropriate for preschool children. Language skills and social skills, which are at a critical stage of development during the preschool years, receive a great deal of focus. Music, art, math, science and physical activity also are addressed through the curriculum. Instruction takes place through hands-on experiences, small group activities and some large group activities.
Child Care
The child care program at Trinity surrounds a child's class time with experiences that further develop his/her potential. A healthy childcare atmosphere will promote spiritual, intellectual, physical and social/emotional growth. Childcare is offered Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. throughout the year. The cost of childcare includes preschool tuition; all children enrolled at the center attend a preschool class from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m..
Staff
Because of our firm belief in Christian education, Trinity Lutheran Early Childhood Learning Center will be staffed by dedicated Christians who exceed state and local qualifications. The teacher is assisted by a classroom aide who is experienced in working with groups of children. During the afternoon childcare hours, the program is staffed by group leaders who have not only experience working with children, but have also completed college courses in education, psychology or sociology.
